The club has enjoyed another
good year both on and off the pitch.
TEAM
PERFORMANCE
The
record for
2000 was played 24, won 9, lost14 and drawn 1. This included four tough evening games
against Valley End away as well as a highly controversial President's Day defeat. Good
bating performances outweighed bowling, no-one rook a five wicket haul but there were nine
half-centuries and one century. The highlights were Matt's ton at
Tilford (we now have
four centurions) and Jay Walliker's spectacular demolition job at Chobham. The team was
capable of playing excellent cricket on occasion, usually when fielding the
strongest eleven. Unfortunately, again this year this happened too infrequently. Fielding improved
with a few run-outs and several outstanding catches. The younger players are developing
well but would benefit from some professional coaching, this will be arranged early in 2001.

CLUB
DEVELOPMENT
Thanks to some
excellent fundraising, the generosity of our supporters and the Parish Council we reached
the target of £6,000 for the construction of four grass wickets. Unfortunately, the
work
has had to be postponed due to the wettest of weather, it has been re-scheduled for April
2001 which should not affect the opening date of Summer 2002.
We have also benefited from a lottery grant of £1187 for cricket nets and a slip cradle, other
funding is still necessary, however the Parish Council is considering a further grant
toward these facilities. We hope to have the nets up for the new season (2001). The
Parish
Council are also considering our request to run a bar in the pavilion among other requests
concerning our use of the Pavilion.
