Your Cheatin' Heart

Williams, 1964 (mono), 1992 (stereo).  Recorded: 06-04-64

Johnny Kidd (voc) - Mick Green (lead) - Johnny Spence (bass) - Frank Farley (drums) - Vic Cooper (keyboards)

A superb bluesy version of the Hank Williams song, b-side to "Whole Lotta Woman".  The group were one of the few acts performing country music in their repertoire, albeit adapted to their harder R&B style. The presence of Vic Cooper's organ with (it's effective solo) ironically allows Mick Green more freedom to play his blues licks and made for a full-fat sound.

Your cheatin' heart
Will make you weep
You'll cry and cry
And try to sleep

Though sleep wont come
The whole night through
Your cheatin' heart
Will tell on you

     Though tears come down
     Like the falling rain
     You'll toss around
     And you call my name

You walk the floor
The way that you do
Your cheatin' heart
Will tell on you

(instrumental break)

     Though tears come down
     Like the falling rain
     Oh, you'll toss around
     And you call my name

You walk the floor
The way that you do
Your cheatin' heart
Will tell on you
