Otis Redding, 1983 (mono), 1992
(stereo). Recorded: 16-02-65 |
Johnny Kidd
(vocals) - plus additional accompaniment (unknown) |
Soul from head to toe on this track, a version of the Otis Redding
favourite. It was consigned to the vaults for nearly twenty years
indicating that EMI weren't bold enough to take the Stax label and its
associates head-on. Kidd was completely plausible for this musical
genre, just as The Righteous Brothers proved later in the year when they
took "You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin" to the top spot. Perhaps by this
time the group's image was wearing a little thin with the record-buying
public whereas EMI preferred their rock 'n' roll. |
